2009 Spelling Bee The Washburn Public Library Team Adult Spelling Bee was held on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Five teams competed in two rounds. It happens every year. Join in!

2009 Summer Reading Program - Be Creative The 2009 Summer Reading Program is Be Creative. For six weeks young people and future readers learned about creativity - whether it was through painting, sculpting, oragami, tye dye, or more. Nearly 30 to 40 youth attended each session.






Easter Hunt & Other Fun 2009 In 2009 the Washburn Public Library held an Easter Egg Hunt, with staff putting out 1,200 eggs, which was attended by 100-plus children - the hunt was over in 40 seconds.



2008 Volunteer of the Year Carol Campbell Carol Campbell - Grandma Carol - reads for children each Wednesday for the Washburn Public Library's Toddler Tales. Because of Carol's efforts generations of future readers get their start with good books, good times and good memories.



Digital Delight!!! Anna Nutt of Washburn was the fortunate winner in the Washburn Public Library digital camera drawing held in December. Participants were able to put their name in the drawing after placing a decoration on the library’s Holiday Tree.



2008 Summer Reading Program - Catch the Reading Bug Some of the activities that were a part of the 2008 Catch the Reading Bug summer program included watermelon seeding spitting contest, prizes for whomever could find a walking stick, and a visit from a 'real life' bee keeper.



David Wroblewski - The Story of Edgar Sawtelle author David Wroblewski, author of The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, was in Mellen in November and several patrons and library staff members from Washburn were able to meet with him. Washburn Public Library Assistant Deb Terry is shown her getting a signed autographed copy of the book.



Used and second-hand books in the Book Bin Located in the basement of the Washburn Public Library the Book Bin room is a great place to find used and second-hand books. Staffed on Wednesday afternoons, the room is open most times throughout the week, check with the front desk for availability.



Halloween 2008 The Washburn Public Library was busy, busy, busy with spooks and ghosts and witches and goblins on Halloween night. Here are just a few who visited for Tricks-And-Treats!



Uncle Sam Uncle Sam Wants You To Read At The Washburn Library!!!



IPOD Winner!!! Alia Allan of Washburn won the IPOD Shuffle in the raffle drawing.



Spelling Bee 2008 Winner The Chequamegon Books and Coffee team won the 2008 Grownup Spelling Bee title.
